Junior Design Print

In MEGR 3156 (a.k.a. Junior Design), students are assigned to teams, typically with five or six members. The teams are tasked with designing and building robots that must meet numerous specifications and fulfill performance criteria. The robots are typically the approximate size of a shoe box, have a supplies cost of ~$200, must traverse obstacles, are required to ascend an incline of 30 degrees and fulfill an operation or function at the top of the incline. Robots are evaluated based on time to complete the course, weight, cost of supplies, cost of labor, esthetics, ergonomics of the controller, the use of rapid-prototyping, etc. The winning robots get displayed in the lobby of Duke Centennial Hall for a semester.
