Thinking of studying Mechanical Engineering at UNC Charlotte? We recognize that transfer students come to our undergraduate program for many different reasons, and with many different strengths and backgrounds. Even current UNC Charlotte students from other majors are considered transfers to our undergraduate program. No matter where you are on the path to transfer, we're ready to help.

All students who wish to declare mechanical engineering are required to have a GPA of at least 3.0 as well as sufficient background in math courses to be eligible to take calculus 1 or higher math.

Due to high demand and limited space, admission to the major of mechanical engineering is competitive. The minimum GPA requirements stated above do not guarantee acceptance into the major. Decisions are based on a holistic review of a student's entire academic record. This includes but is not limited to grades earned at other institutions and at UNC Charlotte.
